About Me
I learned two things about myself early on in life: I need to create, and I want my own business. My friend and I, at about eight years old, sewed doll clothes and planned to trek around town with our wagons loaded, getting rich. That same friend and I made door stops by folding down the corners of old Reader’s Digests, hoping they’d be a big seller. In case you’re wondering, they weren't!
When I was 16 years old, I read a book in which the main character designed fabric. THAT’S what I wanted to do. One Associate of Business degree, numerous office jobs, stints as a donut maker and a lunch lady, three daughters, four grandchildren, and 44 years later, I can finally say I design fabric and all manner of other fun things.
To learn how, I took an on-line course in Adobe Illustrator. With this knowledge, I can design fabric, many many products on Print on Demand sites, such as Zazzle and Printify, and create the 3D paper art you see on this website.
I grew up in a very small town in Iowa in the 60’s and 70’s, during a time when we really did play outside until dark; everybody knew everybody and what they were doing, and as teenagers we drove back and forth on the same stretch of street for hours every Friday and Saturday night.
My parents were both crafters, and I spent many years at the Covered Bridge Festival in Winterset, Iowa with them, selling their handcrafted goods. Years later, they opened a greenhouse and grew the most glorious flowers imaginable. I believe I come by my love of color and design quite naturally!
I love the time I spend designing, even at night when I can’t sleep because my mind won’t stop! I am lucky enough to be self-employed, so if I stay in bed an extra few minutes in the morning to catch up, I’m okay with that.
There are times I ignore the dishes in the sink, the clothes in the dryer, and the dust on the shelves. And I’m okay with that, too, because now that I am doing what I’ve ALWAYS dreamed of, I’m not going to let a few things like dirty dishes get in my way!
